In 2007, a fascinating article was published in the New York Times that addressed whether using sunscreen in fact helps to prevent skin damage. Some points that I find to be interesting are how many doctors feel that using an SPF to measure sunscreen strength is a "terrible system," and how it is common for sunscreens to be misleading to consumers.
